Hi All,

We just released a new update to our beta branch. See opt-in instructions at the bottom of the post.

This update is mainly focused on our "flight school" and adds multiple new scenarios I highly recommend trying the 737 startup scenario again, along with the T38-A tutorial. It's a bit challenging, but you'll learn how to fly the T38, perform some aerobatics, and go supersonic!

• Adds new T38-A scenario (well worth trying), and more advanced B55 tutorial
• Adds audio+subtitles to 737 startup scenario. Way better now
• Adds scenario subtitles (Scenario 1, and 2, rest coming soon)
• Fixes bug where sometimes old aircraft audio remains after changing aircraft or loading a scenario
• Adds GPU selection under Settings -> Graphics -> Advanced (useful on Optimus laptops)
• Enhances helicopter flight model with a variety of new parameters and capabilites. Aircraft aren't yet dialed in but you'll see some flight model changes soon as a result.
• Improvements to MD 530 startup procedure accuracy
• Several crash fixes
• Adds SDK sample showing how to create key bindings and menus (SDK/Samples/Bind and Menu Item Demo.chai)
• Toggle hand-tracking binding now works on Vive controllers

I realize this isn't a huge update. We also have several larger features we've been developing concurrently, which aren't ready for release yet, but we're making good progress on:

• The addition of a very high quality single-prop general-aviation aircraft. We should have this soon, and you'll love it
• The addition of a new helicopter, with a super-high-fidelity flight model
• A new scenery system for airports, cities, and high-detail areas

Opting into Website-Version Beta:
1. Turn on Debugging Tools from "Help -> About -> Usage Options"
2. Open "Debugging Tools -> Debug Diagnostics"
3. Expand "Debug Options"
4. For "Updates URL" specify "https://cdn.flyinside-fsx.com/SimLatest.ClosedBeta/" (the final slash is important)
5. Restart your sim
6. Use "Sim -> Check for Updates" - It should show a prompt for version 0.5.5.4 currently

Opting into Steam Beta:
1. Open Steam
2. Go to the "Library" section
3. Right click on "FlyInside Flight Simulator"
4. Select Properties
5. Go to the "betas" tab
6. From the "Select the beta you would like to opt into:" dropdown select "beta"
7. Let Steam do its update thing!

Yay, an update!

May I ask how Europe is coming along?

Some nice performance enhancements in the beta. I was able to crank the settings using my Odyssey for the first time. Good stuff!

Has this update made it to steam yet?

It's not on the main Steam branch yet, but you can opt into the beta branch by doing the following:

1. Open Steam
2. Go to the "Library" section
3. Right click on "FlyInside Flight Simulator"
4. Select Properties
5. Go to the "betas" tab
6. From the "Select the beta you would like to opt into:" dropdown select "beta"
7. Let Steam do its update thing!

Thanks Malcolm - I am already on the steam beta, but so far I have not updated to this version. Do I need to un-beta and then re-beta to get the update?

You may need to restart Steam for it to be pushed to your version, if you haven't already.
