Why is that? At the current conversion rate, it's about 560 EUR. Still much more expensive than I thought! I'm keeping my DK2 for now :?

I pre-ordered, but that price-tag is quite steep. Really shitty of oculus to talk about "in the ballpark of $350" and then it's almost twice that. In Sweden with VAT and shipping it's €743!!!

On top of it, I got stuck in the credit-card verification step, and panicked, so I pressed the back button and lost my place in the queue. Now I have expected delivery in April. I can't believe how stupid I am, I should have just waited and kept refreshing that page.

And the worst part, if I had known about the kickstarter when it was active, I would never have hesitated a second to back them. And then I would have a free Rift on the way.

Yeah, I'm bitter. Rift better be damned good.

Sorry for gushing, I just had to get it out of my system.

Edit: this thread should probably be in the Lounge section btw.

Guys, US retail prices never include taxes so you cannot really compare $599 (without tax) with €699 (tax included).
so if you take $599 -> €555 + VAT (22% in my country) -> €666. The pre-order price is €699, which is a €33 difference which i cannot account for (but it's probably for some other tax that they have to pay that).

Still, €43 euro for shipping is a bit of a rip-off unless they use a UBER limousine to do the deliveries...

VAT is 25% in Sweden. So that accounts for the difference. I know that US prices never include VAT, it's STILL very much!

It is pricey but my order is for may and I'm lucky as I can hear what people have to say and if it's bad then I'll cancel my order !!!

I took the PayPal option and final price with delivery is £530. Reading other forums if you deduct the games price and headset and microphone and the xbox controller then your looking about £350 for the HMD.

The price was definitely a kick in the wallet. I'll sell my DK2 to offset the cost. That'll help some
