Great place to enjoy VR

Postby exploremore » Wed Feb 10, 2016 5:19 am

Continuing to explore the mountains and coast of Norway. Without OrbX Norway I would not bother. I was using an ultralight which has panoramic views from the cockpit but it was taking a long time to get places. Now I am using the AT-6B which also has a nice big canopy and flies faster. Tried the F22 but the scenery flies by at such a pace that you miss far too much. Last flight, ENHD - ENSO was spectacular flying about 35km inland following fjords then up north before heading west again to the coast. Apart from some great fjords, some of the inland lakes both in the valleys and on the high plateaus are worth the journey. I love SE Alaska but Norway is gaining its charm with me.

Sneaked a few glances at my flat 4K 32" monitor during the flight and although the resolution is far better than the Oculus, the withdrawl from the 3D environment was jarring

I've been lucky enough to do some flying in Norway and it really is beautiful place. I wonder if there is any good freeware scenery?

Any freeware would be of a very limited area
The OrbX scenery is outstanding and worth every penny imho
I keep telling myself I should get back to Alaska (Pacific Fjords etc) but somehow that is a month away at least
Flying there with the Paramotor today was truly thrilling

Just installed some airports last night, they are in most cases simple but are far better then a strip of grass or concrete
Bergen has a big makeover with surrounds included. Lots of military bunkers dotted around the airport site
I only need the airports but there is mesh and other items available too
