Flight1 GTN650/750 GPS and FlyInside

Postby Derek Speare » Sun Mar 06, 2016 11:27 am

The Flight1 GTN650/750 GPS addon looks really interesting. I'm curious to know if anyone has it and is using it with FlyInside - or if it works with FlyInside, specifically.

I've had it for quite a while. I used the GNSx30's from RealityXP for years, and immediately upgraded to the GTN as soon as it was released. Very nice upgrade. Does everything the GNS did and more. I find the readability of the charts in the GTN is tough in panel with the rift, once you open it in its own window, no issue. I've ised it quite a bit in the Real Air Turbine Duke...match made in heaven. As a side note, I got about an hour of time in the left seat of a Duchess with a GNS430 a few years back, and it was second nature for me to load up an approach in there. Surprised the instructor.

Wish someone would come out with a good G500/G600 for flightsim.

bTW Derek, nice to see you over on the flight side, I'm a long term iRacing member, going back to 2008....was the main 'driver' for me getting the DK2 last year, but once I tried it on FSX, it was all over. Hoping the new cars and the upcoming DX11 upgrade gets me back into my membership over there, I really miss the Lotus79....

This is an outstanding product and is a virtual copy of the real world device with only a few things left out
I am just learning how to use it and it is a very versatile flight tool.
Detailed terrain for whole world used in GPS & terrain warning, COM, airport layouts US & EU + others and full charts for US
See the training video below for more details

Thank you. So how do you use it with FlyInside and FSX?

@Tony - DX11 and proper Oculus implementation is coming...I can't say when or why I know, but it will eventually come ;)

You'll need to install it into the plane you're flying. If you're good with panel work, or have FSPS, you can simply drop one into the panel. Some of the newer pay ware sometimes have options to automatically change the panel.cfg to dis Lay it properly integrated into the VC.

Once it's installed, you can use it just like the default GPS, it will drive your HSI and ILS needles.

Hmmm...it's starting to sound like I won't be able to get this going with my Iris F16 :/ No worries! There are always PDF charts!

Look under Viper CL, you would need to change the panel.cfg so that Window01 is showing the GTN750 as a pop up instead of the FS9GPS!GPS_500. The VC doesn't have a GPS in it by default. Not that you couldn't do it, but it probably wouldn't be pretty. I'd probably stick to it as a popup gauge. That way you can figure where you're going, and then revert back to flying it like a real F-16, no GPS :)

If you end up buying it, i can probably change the config for you, the Iris F-16 is one of my long time favorites. Doesn't get as much time since I bought the VRS Superbug, but still a fantastic bird to fly.
