Well, I had the opportunity to ask this question to Martin, community manager od Dovetail Games, on avsim forum:

Melchor, on 16 Feb 2016 - 5:35 PM, said:
Hi Martin. Virtual reality is the future of flight simmulation. Are you planning any support or working closely with Flyinside?

There are no plans to have any VR content in Flight School.

Something we don’t talk about much is the fact that we do have long history of working with VR. Last year we worked with Valve to convert Euro Fishing into an early prototype to demonstrate their new VR technology at one of their conferences. It was never planned to be a full game but rather a tech demo of sorts. Train Simulator 2015 also contained a not very secret oculus rift development kit mode that we added as an experiment.

At the moment we not working on VR for Flight Simulator directly, however it is definitely on our radar as a possibility for long term development.

I'm not holding out hope for it. I don't think those people really understand the gravity VR has. I'm staying with FSX/FI.

I couldn't agree more. I'm so surprised at the response from so many FS users and developers and can't help feel that they're missing out!

I can't help but think that people who don't see why VR would be a good idea for flight simulation are completely lacking imagination. Of course, they have never tried VR, but just the slightest imagination had me as excited as I've ever been long before I had my first go with VR.

Edit: I will never consider buying a flight simulator without VR support ever in the future.

Actually Martin said the new flight simulator will be open to developers, not the flight school though. So I think as soon as they release an sdk Dan could work on it. I hope so. Imagine how smooth it will be with a simulator that takes advantage of the new hardware.

Steam has DTGFS listed for preorder indicating an April 2016 release. I raised the VR flag on the Steam forums and got the same "we'll work with developers" and "VR is considered for the long term" (paraphrasing). Personally, I feel that if a game developer doesn't see the realities of VR and the need to dedicate primary focus to the development, then they won't get my money. It's foolish, hubris or both if a developer overlooks the importance of VR.

However, if DTG is true to their word and "works with developers", then perhaps that's an opening for an opportunity for Dan and FlyInside. I'd get the new DTG titles if FlyInside can work with it.

Remember the target market is current Steam customers who are not yet into VR
In a couple of years time they likely will be supporting VR but DTGFS is aimed at gamers not flight sim enthusiasts

Here's a bit of video from inside the sim itself:

But no VR = no $$$ from me.

So, any news regarding DTG Flight Simulator?

I keep getting excuses from DTG as to why they do not want to support VR in the sim.The latest excuse is that there are just too many brands to chose from and they just want to wait and see what the market favors, Then Martin (of DTG) list a long list of mostly AR Goggles and Smart Phone Goggles, with basically Oculus Rift and Vive buried in the list. I'm surprised they did not list the PS 4 Goggles.

Seems if there is going to be any VR, it will need to come from 3rd Party developers (like you). I hope you can get on the list to get the SDK so you can take what you already have for FSX and modify it for DTG Flight Simulator.

Is this something that FlyInside-FSX is interested in doing?
