DCS 1.5.1 update

Postby Tony » Sun Nov 08, 2015 8:38 am

I downloaded this new update today and it's broken big time. Rift doesn't work and the axis config doesn't work. Cannot get throttle on my X55 to be recognised. Stay clear for now :(

Tony

Edit* I saw Derek's post on their forum and it seems it only works with runtime 0.8 ! Will check and report.

Ah, thanks for the heads-up! I run 0.8, but I will wait for your report before upgrading.

I finally got it updated. I am running the 0800 runtimes and nvidia 358.87 drivers. I did a fast test flight in training with the SU25T. The frame rates are smooth and locked at 75 for my settings (which are set pretty low). I like it :)

Very low graphics also my end Derek. Find it a tad more glitchy than the last hotfix. Going through the clouds is strange. Also I see the tree's and they really are bad. From the early days of Lock on by the look of them ? But you definitely need Runtime 0.8 or its a no go.

Yes, Tony - it's pretty much what's needed. I suppose if everything was cranked to the max there would be no system out there to run it at a steady 75fps. I just like the flying experience itself. FI and DCS have me over the moon :D

So, there's some perf improvement on the last update? The only thing refraining me from playing DCS more is the heavy judder even in very low graphic mode. I will update and see how it goes...

OK the steam version works much better than the stand alone beta. Great FPS and the Huey is a blast. Also love the A10C. They are getting close to it being perfectly playable IMO.

The beta v1.5.1 is smooth as glass nearly all of the time. There are occasions in areas where there are a lot of objects where the frame rates dip, but there is virtually no judder. This is not the case with the v1.2 version of DCS. The judder there was terrible. This beta is worth installing. Just make sure to turn down the graphics and not overload it with lots of objects. I have found that many objects wreck the frame rates. If you want to have the most realistic flying experience and sense of speed, it's worth it.
