Very low fps (22/15) with new GTX1070

Postby Blackrat » Wed Jul 20, 2016 2:44 am

Hi
I wonder if someone could help me out.

When I had a GTX970 my fsp, as shown on the Flyinside menu was in the region of 23/90. Nice and smooth.
Now I've 'upgraded' to a MSI GTX 1070 my fps have plunged to 22/15. Quite unusable.

I've reset the Flyinside settings and re-activated it. No luck.
A clean install of the latest Nvidia driver hasn't worked either.

My system is a 6700k, MSI GTX1070 Gaming X, 32GB ram, running P3d from a Samsung EVO SSD.

Has anyone else come across this and found an answer by any chance?
Thanks
Blackrat

That sounds very unfortunate. Something is definitely wrong. Sorry to say I have no idea what though, but you should definitely be getting better frames with that monster of a machine.

Have you tried the old "rename fsx.cfg and let FSX rebuild it"-trick? Have you made sure that the FSX internal framerate limiter is set correctly? Do you have any 3rd party software running that may interfere with framerates, 3rd party framerate limiter perhaps? Is your framerate very stable at 15 fps, or is it jumping up and down? Can you confirm you are on a Rift and not a Vive (I know it's the Rift subforum)?

I seriously think the 1070 is being bottle necked somewhere ? Quite a few on here saying the 1070 is causing them problems???

Don't know if this is the issue or if it even affects 1070s, but the Nvidia 368.69 driver would not run the boost clock in VR on the 1080. It sucked. They fixed it in 368.81.

Might check your driver version and see if you might have the bad one.

Thanks Robert but I have a freshly downloaded 368.81.

I also have the GTX 1070 but my framerates are averageing 24/94, but still having problems with flickering. Have rolled back the 1070 driver, have uninstalled the driver and reinstalled, all to no avail.

I have a weird thing going on with my setup, if I have a FSX window open, I.E Shift - 1, 2, 3 ect. (the 2D Panel) my framerate also drops to areas similar to yours. Do you have these panels open? The green menu bar also did it too. So anything 2D in the cockpit related to FSX kills my framerate and I cant figure out why.

Guess who's a happy bunny now then? :D

Got it working fine now thanks to clicking "prefer maximum performance" in the nVidia control panel 'Manage 3D Settings' menu under "power management".

Flyinside now running at 24/92 fps

Thanks all.

Sounds like he is CPU limited at this point, especially on FSX. Prepar3D would probably make better use of the new GPU :)
