FPS tweak

Postby G-PMEM » Sat Jul 22, 2017 11:59 am

After trying various things to improve the FPS I came across the following registry tweak which changed my FPS from 20 to 27. If you try it, make a note of the settings before you change them, and reboot.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile\Tasks\Games]
"GPU Priority"=dword:00000001
"Latency Sensitive"="True"
"Priority"=dword:00000001
"Scheduling Category"="High"
"SFIO Priority"="High"

Cool, I will give that a try :)
Thanks for sharing that, will see if it improves anything!

Update: Cool! I dont have any numbers measured, but I really think that I gained some fps with that settings! Thanks again!

Sorry.. I am one of those 80 and I have tried it. Many thanks for finding and posting it. Unfortunately, in my case I did not see any fps improvement more's the pity. Not an excuse not to acknowledge G-PMEM's post though. So thanks again!

Hi,

I tried and did not notice such a high FPS improvement. I may have a couple more FPS, but in certain conditions only (clear sky), but don't have any FPS increase in overcast conditions, for example.

Thanks anyway for the tip.

I'm starting to wonder if some of the increase was due to something else. I have noticed that the frame rate can change for no apparent reason sometimes. It seems quite unstable for me at the moment. X-Plane also hammers my hard drive when I look left and right in VR. I hope it's not doing dynamic scenery loading based on where you are looking as that's a bad idea in VR where you're constantly looking around.

I think those settings are supposed to improve some stuttering and latency issues, so should be beneficial anyway.

It's funny you mention looking left and right performance hit. Many times... well everytime before doing anything else I make point to look left and right to get that out of the way before taxing and takeoff. Seems to work. Thanks for the post, but I'm hesitant of tweaking anything in the registry. But I copied it in case I need for a raining day!

I have Tony and I got one as well! However, I went XP11.00 trying to narrow down this latency issue. I'm pretty sure its a plugin, but I haven't nailed it down.
I will download 11.05r1 again in a few minutes and troubleshoot with the current version.
