[Solved]Distorted views after update

Postby RedSheep » Fri Dec 08, 2017 7:27 pm

After updating X-plane and flyinside the view in the oculus is distorted. When i turn my head around the picture is distorted very unnatural. It seems that the focal length of the view is much too small to make a natural view. In addition, the flyinside menu (the one shown in the cockpit when pressing the interaction button) is much smaller than it was before the update.

I tried to reset the visuals settings, field of view settings and visual offsets in x-plane, as it was mentioned in another topic in this forum, but that didn't help.

My system:
- X-Plane 11.10r3 (no Plugins apart from flyinside)
- Flyinside1.83
- Oculus Rift
- Radeon RX 580
- Windows 10 64bit

Hi RedSheep,

if you had installed the XP update after the FI update, could you please try reinstalling the FI update again. I'm not sure how the XP update works, but it might be worth a try as it could have "stomped" on the settings that FI uses.

Otherwise, I will need to check this one out and get back to you
ASUS Hero VIII Motherboard, I7-6700K, EVGA GTX1080FTW, 48GB RAM, Windows 10
Oculus Rift/Touch
Warthog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind pedals

Hi,

My first attempt was as following:
My basic setting was Xplane 11.05r2 / Flyinside 1.81. I first updated Xplane to 11.10r3, what forced an error that was described in this topic (viewtopic.php?f=44&t=6074) what let me to update flyinside from 1.81 to 1.83. After that Xplane and flyinside worked - but with the problem with the distorted view.

I did a second try:
I took my backup from Xplane 11.05r2 which had no flyinside installed yet. Then I first did the update to Xplane 11.10r3 and after that I directly installed flyinside 1.83. But that way also didn't solve the problem with the distorted view.

Hi Stevil,

Having a similar issue...

Distorted views following update to RC3, I have uninstalled FI and reinstalled the latest downloaded update. No change.

The view is really weird, like the ZOOM function is on permanently. I have cleared out the settings in the App data folder and no change. Interestingly the FI Menu box (that appears when you use the select key) appears very small and when you move your head it twists around and goes back to front!

FI Version -1.9 for X Plane
Xplane Version - 1.10 RC3
No Plugins other than FI
Latest GPU Drivers Installed
Running on a Desktop
HMD is plugged into GPU
Monitor is running on Display Port

Log file and some screenshots of the weird menu issues and my lane graphical setings.

Hi Ben,

thanks for that detailed bug report...It seems like there's some problem with AMD or older NVIDIA cards. Maybe X-Plane v11.10 changed something with it.
Dan is aware of it and working on a fix.

Best regards
Stephan

P.S.: Really like the details of the report :)

Hi Stephan,

Thanks for the fast reply! I appreciate the work you guys do so its really no issue to spend the time to compile a bug report, after all you don't have a crystal ball!

Looking forwards to a fix!

Cheers,

That was a pretty smart move Ben :) Most guys forget about that we don't have a crystal ball here :D
According to Dan this is because of an GPU compatibility bug between FlyInside, XP 11.v10 and those GPUs and he is working on a fix.

Best regards
Stephan

Check this here also: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/f ... le/&page=3

Seems like a lot of AMD users have problems with the latest v11.10

From https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/f ... amd-users/

Hoi,

for all the AMD users out there: please go back to Crimson 17.10.3 at the moment. Will solve some problems with shading and lighting issues. 17.11 and above has some issues at the moment.

And, by the way, disable in CCC the option "Shader-Cache"

Cheers, Thomas

Can anyone try this out? Also a new X-Plane RC1 is out: v11.11rc1
