P3Dv4.3 announced by LM - due in JUNE!

Postby CVGridley » Tue Jun 12, 2018 1:41 pm

Hi all,
Based on some info I saw posted which came from a LM podcast, P3Dv4.3 is just around the corner and some VR fixes should be included. Any word on whether an update for Fly-Inside will be shortly behind? I'm probably sticking with v4.2 until FI is patched!

Thanks,
sg

Hopefully they fix P3D's native VR well enough that we don't even need FlyInside. It's been three months since the Vive Pro hit and while FlyInside works, the resolution is just not what AFS2 or X-Plane do normally/natively.

P3D native is stunning on the Pro but the scale is wrong. Everything is tack sharp though, and easy to read/see with the Pro's increased resolution. I'm sure it’s the same for the Odyssey.

FlyInside has some great features and it’s been a wonderful bit of software, but only supporting the old headsets and not updating for the new stuff has been frustrating.

I have updated to 4.3. I removed flyinside.exe the annotattor and one other file. I still get the message "Flyinside requires 4.2".

How do I uninstall Flyinside so I can fly till there is an update?

Hi shalomar,
you dont need to uninstall anything, just start P3D.exe instead of Flyinside.exe ... thats all ;)

4.3 worked fine for me on my first launch. I very stupidly then tried to launch FI to see if by some chance it may work and was told my version was not compatible.

Now when I launch P3D without FI, it still tells me I don't have the correct version to launch FlyInside...even though I'm not.

Why can't a developer see the potential here and come up with something better than this same old song and dance that has been essentially abandoned?

I also ran into this issue and was forced to uninstall FlyInside in order to run P3D at all.

Can I suggest the following improvements to FlyInside developer team?
- Unsupported version error be made into a warning, in the case where a newer P3D (unknown to FlyInside) is found. User can choose to try it or quit.
- Prominent notice on this board and on the FlyInside website when a version of P3D is available that is really not compatible.
- FlyInside to work closer with Lockheed Martin to beta-test any upcoming new versions. Imagine a future where Flyinside update is ready in advance of the P3D update...

Same could apply to X-Plane too, of course.

Please treat this as a priority, it can affects all of your users and will happen with each and every update unless something changes.

Tony, any word on when we might expect an updated version of FI for V4.3? The post-release silence is concerning...
