Memory leak in VR Compositor

Postby Fabrice77 » Wed Dec 12, 2018 1:53 pm

Hi,

I just built a new computer and reinstalled FlyInside 1.96.
I never had this issue before: Everytime I use the mouse scroll when mouse pointer is not on a knob, FlyInside zooms, but when I do this with my new config, the second number of the framerate indicator falls from 90 to 15, creating huge stutters First number drops from 60 to around 25. This is staying like this and does not goes up again. This is happening with every planes (I do my tests with the stock Baron), with or without plugins or scenery.
I noticed in the task managerthat the VR Compositor (within x-plane.exe) uses more and more memory, until filling it all (32Gb!), sometimes leading to a complete freeeze or a BSOD. This is happening each and every time.

My specs:
i9 9900K 3.6 GHz
32GB RAM
Asus Maximus XI Hero
Asus RTX 2080Ti (with latest drivers from GeForce Experience)
Windows 10 Pro (version 10.0.17134.471)
X-Plane 11.26
FlyInside 1.96
SteamVR 1.1.4
HTC Vive Pro

Please help me. Is it at least possible to unassign the zoom fonction to the mouse scroll?
Let me know if you need anything else. X-Plane log is attached, but does not show anything wrong.

Thanks,
Fabrice

I just discovered that this is happening only when I select the High Speed AsynchronousTimewarp mode. With the low speed, it does not happen, but I have 30% less FPS...
Any hint is welcome.

Fabrice,

I just recently started to get this problem as well. It only happens with FI and not native or other applications

I'll get Dan to have a look to see if something new has been introduced bug wise. Is this with XP11 latest beta or the stable version ??

My mistake in not folly reading this. I am getting the same problem but it is in P3D4.3 Since it is cross platform I suspect it may be SteamVR or windows related or how FI interacts with them

Hi,
I've been away for a while with graphics card problems. On going back into P3D 4.3 with my Vive Pro, I got pestered with this VR Compositor message.

I've found if I press the blue button on my link box twice, to switch the box off and on, I then have no more of these messages.

Jim,

What message are you getting? I don't get any message, just VR compositor filling my RAM... Pressing twice on the link box does not help.

Tony, more information for Dan:
This is actually happening in low speed asynchronous timewarp mode as well. No idea why it seemed to work last time.
One thing I noticed is that sometimes, as soon as I enter the plane, the second number of the FPS indicator is at 45 instead of 90. Sometimes, it goes up to 90 after 15-20 seconds, but sometimes it stays stuck forever at 45... In both cases, using the mouse scrolls starts the memory leak.

FI is unusable for me right now, please help.

Thanks,
Fabrice

Sorry, Fabrice.
My problem was different. I had a message in red, "VR Compositor not available. Restart Steam VR".

ok, I may have found the culprit: motion smoothing.
If I disable it, it looks like the problem does not happen. I will continue testing and will report back.
