New Scenery Incoming! And a video

Postby admin » Sat Jun 22, 2019 11:28 am

First off, some good news! We're making the new scenery available in the beta branch on Monday, so you'll get to start flying and testing it :)

Secondly, here's a preview of what it looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WWCJWWLoIw

Thanks!

Gorgeous, I can't wait to test it out! Will this be LOD imagery, or will we choose quadrants to download before flying?

So I spoke too soon! Have just taken a chopper ride from Kidlington to Brize Norton, and then found my home village, and then my street and then my house. Brilliant! FPS seems to hover around 60, I have had no stutters at all. Tomorrow I hope to have more time to explore Snowdonia and the Lake District.

OK then ! this is defenitely a huge step forward. You had me worried for a while about the development of this sim but now you've got my attention again.

There's the whole world to explore now !

When autogen (density) set at reasonable level, urban areas can look impressive and convincing (i flew over EDDM area). Without a decent level of autogen, things can look very poor at groundlevel up to 1500 ft or so.

Only thing is that, in my case, the sim crashes after a few minutes in flight. Perhaps my rig (i7 980X, 16GB DDR3, SSD, GTX780 STRIX 6GB VRAM) is just not up to it. or it's an internet issue, or it's a memory issue?

There are also elevation issues i've noticed at EDDM and EHAM.

Flying around Krabi (Thailand) VTSG, is fantastic. For the first time in any sim, i had the feeling to actually fly there. At least the colours and the elevation of the terrain looks authentic, Even those crazy looking islands show some height at least as opposed to the flat 2D drawings in the ocean that you would get in FSX (and Prepar3D as well I guess).
