Postby admin » Wed Aug 14, 2019 3:37 pm

Hi All,

We just released a new beta, 0.6.1.0. You can get it from either the SimLatest.ClosedBeta, or SimLatest.ClosedBeta2 branch. Looking forward to everyone's feedback!

New Features:
  • Adds PAPI lights
  • Adds new "Aircraft -> Charts" system
  • VORs now correctly follow magnetic declination
  • Magnetic compass now correctly tracks magnetic north rather than true north
  • Some flight model improvements
  • Fixes Reset Flight bug w/ saved default flights
  • Adds experimental desktop window capture (performance not great yet)
  • Adds "Low Memory" warning
  • Fix rainbow colored tile bug

In-Progress Features (for upcoming releases):
  • Improving tree positioning in scenery
  • Improving water positioning
  • Scenery editing tools
  • Cleaning up broken/missing airports
  • Adding a single-engine piston aircraft (getting closer and closer)
  • Adding a new helicopter (very close)

Opting into Website-Version Beta:
1. Turn on Debugging Tools from "Help -> About -> Usage Options"
2. Open "Debugging Tools -> Debug Diagnostics"
3. Expand "Debug Options"
4. For "Updates URL" specify "https://cdn.flyinside-fsx.com/SimLatest.ClosedBeta/" (the final slash is important)
5. Restart your sim
6. Use "Sim -> Check for Updates" - It should show a prompt for version 0.5.9.6 currently

Opting into Steam Beta:
1. Open Steam
2. Go to the "Library" section
3. Right click on "FlyInside Flight Simulator"
4. Select Properties
5. Go to the "betas" tab
6. From the "Select the beta you would like to opt into:" dropdown, select "beta"
7. Let Steam do its update thing!

Thanks,
Dan

Great!!!!
I turned it up today, made a flight from LEXJ to LEBL (Santander to Barcelona) in the 737-300 and noticed PAPI lights... then just a moment ago, noticed also a new menu "Capture Screen" and I was thinking it was for taking pictures... then I saw all the windows in my desktop..and I thought...this is weird... it was not before, and I asked for this functionlity.
Then I´ve checked the About and noticed you had release 0.6.1
Just coming here again to say congrats for the huge amount of work you are putting in this. Every release comes more and more amazing!!!!
Great also to share your roadmap and what we can expect

By the way...SCENERY EDITING TOOLS!!!! Tell us more about it please :)
Thanks Dan & team.

The sim is looking really good, with steady progress being made. Good job well done Dan and the team.

Bug Report:
When selecting the 717, after a few minutes all the click spots stop working and the aircraft hangs (similar to when you run out of time in the XP demo) all control surfaces stop working, throttle, flaps, etc. I’ve tried the Baron and that seems to be working fine ... Any ideas ?

The import screen function works just fine, nice one.

I guess a further step would be to emulate the SimConnect functionality of FSX. I'm guessing a lot of the code would already exist in any multiplayer function.

The sim is taking on some real qualities. I just flew from VHHH down and through Hong Kong harbour. The coastline, topography and water texture are really outstanding. The urban area and city are well populated with auto gen: I can't imagine how well it will look with just a handful of authentic buildings on and around the harbour and a well modelled airport (albeit the texture and colour of Chek Lap Kok ground and surrounding parts of Lantau are an odd shade of blue presently). Good job devs!

The sim still crashes on average after about 10 minutes of flight (Oculus VR), but it's getting prettier at least! I'll keep flying and keep submitting bug splat reports.

A couple non crash-related notes about this version:

1) Trees on mountains tend to grow sideways.
2) Floating terrain still an issue in mountainous areas.

Re the added PAPI lights, they seem to be a bit dim, compared with what I see in P3d and FSX with UK2000 airports.
