Yeah, I'm not that worried about bad pixels or red tint or whatever. As you say, the chance of getting that is surely very low, but seems high because of a vocal minority. It's scheduled to arrive tomorrow, we'll see what happens!

What I'm really concerned about is Oculus latest policies with pushing updates automatically without even informing the customer (totally unacceptable in my opinion), and implementing DRM checks etc. I don't like the direction they're going, which is a walled garden-approach like Apple. They even use the same graphical design language as Apple.

Got my CV1 on the 20th....

Bad HDMI cable

I was getting a consistent cutout and blackscreen every 10 minutes where I had to reboot the whole system (all apps - same problem). Under closer inspection my HDMI cable had the +5V pin bent at an odd angle. That pin is shorter anyway in the plug by design, and after multiple plugging and unplugging of the cable to troubleshoot my blackscreen problems it finally quit working all together. I think the 5V quit making contact altogether.

No bad pixels...but I gotta say I like the lenses on the DK2 better than CV1. The 'godrays' are annoying in dark situations and there is much more distortion across the lens. Bump in resolution and less SDE is nice, however.

Not real happy with quality control on this end...especially since its a proprietary cable. Now I'm in the support que trading e-mails trying to get a replacement. We'll see how long this takes.... :x :x

DK2 plugged back in and working just fine.....

Ahhh crap mate :( and the support queue nightmare sounds like it's going from bad to worse! At least you have a dk2 to fall back on. I just hope mine is from one of the good batches. Hope you get sorted asap.

I'm sorry to say, no, almost not at all... I went through Dreamdeck and Sitka Approach and fired up DCS, but that's about it.

And yes, the "god-rays" are there. Very distracting in Virtual Desktop. And I have a little red tint, but very faint. It's comfortable though, and instruments are clearer. But I'm just reiterating what about a thousand guys have already said on reddit...

and summing up my initial feelings too. Dreamdeck was pretty cool the first time, though I'd deliberately not used it in DK2 to maximise the wow factor.

I hope you're able to get some time soon, good luck with the house move!

Sorry, Tony, you'll have to wait even longer! All my gear are at the new house, and I'm back at our old place, cleaning it until Tuesday. And I want to use it some more before a definite verdict. But after that I'll see what I can do!

I'll tell you from memory though, instruments are clearer. In the DK2 I couldn't read the radio menu in the upper right corner. In the CV1 I can. And it's very convenient in dogfights not losing positional tracking when turning your head around to look at your opponent after a high speed pass. But keep your expectations tempered, it's just incremental improvements, albeit in a lot of different areas. Then again, some things are worse, like the red tint and the fresnel artifacts aka "god-rays". I will have to test it with a high contrast game like Lunar Flight to really tell how distracting they are there before I can say more about it.

Anyway, I hope you get yours before I have the time to make a proper review!
