Xplane Founder (Ausitn Meyer) Discussing Fly-Inside

Have any of you seen the review Austin Meyer (Xplane founder) did of FSX flying around in a helicopter using Fly-Inside?

He comments on how VR is just not there yet for flight simmers in his opinion, but it has great future potential. He takes a couple of jabs at the 'old' FSX architecture. I don't think the the demo helicopter he is showing in the video is the best for assessing VR. I fly the DodoSim Bell 206 a lot and can glance at the gauges to see what I need to (or use binocular zoom).

This probably doesn't bode well for VR support in Xplane any time soon.

Austin is brilliant but kind of an 'odd duck' in my opinion...I was in Aerospace Engineering undergrad with him over 20 years ago. He's now going back to school for Nuclear Engineering because he believes Thorium based nuclear power is the future of our energy needs.

Yeah he seems very very closed minded doesn't he? Also the guy doing the interview gave 10/10 but back tracks quite a bit after Austin speaks ?? I don't think he likes the idea of new life being breathed into fsx ?

He's quite a character!

I had quite a back and forth on email with him a few years ago, he just couldn't see my point of view at all. Very closed minded in my experience but it's good to see him giving it a go.

We talked about this on Avsim actually and someone very correctly pointed out that just 3 months before hand, he was VERY excited about it.

Seen here from Avsim:

We he doesnt very consistent with his owm words. On this video, minute 5.50 he says its ######ing amazing. Come on Austin just because you havent done it with Xplane you dont have to put others down.

Sour grapes. He's just sore they haven't been able to implement Rift support properly with Xplane.

It's like asking Bill Gates to review the new IOS.
